Many of the world's foremost galleries, in addition to showcasing at the Frieze London and Frieze Masters fairs, took to showing works amidst the scenic landscape of Regent's Park in Central London. Regent's Park, one of eight Royal Parks in London, offers beautiful sights and scenery and provides an excellent interactive backdrop for the sculpture park.
Curated by Clare Lilley, the Director of Programs at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, this year's Frieze Sculpture Park features 19 large scale installations and sculptures. The park explores a wide range of mediums and concepts providing visitors with a varied, thoughtful experience.
Art Fund, a Frieze programming partner, has created a variety of opportunities allowing visitors to interface with the works in the park. In addition to hosting regular workshops guiding visitors through the sculpture park, they have created a mobile app that provides valuable insight and information about each of the 19 displayed pieces.
As opposed to earlier years in which the sculpture park was only displayed during the days of the Frieze London and Frieze Masters fairs, the 19 pieces will remain on display until January 8, 2017. This extended exhibition sets a new precedent for Frieze Sculpture Parks to come and creates, according to Frieze, a "new fixture on London's cultural calendar, and one of the largest free outdoor art programmes in Central London."
